The Sun Knows No Season
The Skin Cancer Foundation has awarded its Seal of Recommendation to five Jane Iredale mineral makeup products. This seal is ensures the safety and effectiveness of UV protection products. The Jane Iredale products receiving this recognition are:
- Amazing Base
- PurePressed Base
- Dream Tint
- LipDrink
- Powder-Me SPF
The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends these products as effective aids in preventing sun-induced damage to the skin (which can include premature aging, sunburn and cancer).
SPF only measures protection from UVB rays (or “burning rays”). For a sun protection product to be truly effective, it needs to also protect from UVA rays (which research shows are the rays responsible for premature aging and cancer). The US currently has no system to rate UVA protection, but consumers can feel safer knowing that the products they use have a Skin Cancer Foundation seal of approval.
